  1. Thank you for posting this AnneMarie ❤
At the Reading 92 he was just marvelous, and this vid tells you how his bass is wonderful.
His bass is great of course, and he usually disappear out of sight from the camera, but at the Reading 92 you can watch him play bass 🙂

I have this Festival uncut video, though it's VHS and I don't have the recorder, I'm looking for the idea to into digital, such like mp4 files.

    1. Oh I forgot to write that in this vid James was just lovely, and Derry’s keyboard seemed not worked and he seemed irritate, Zac tried to close to Derry, which I think it’s unusual act of him, and during that he played bass in perfect order.

      1. Yes, he rearlly seemed a natural. It’s not cos he loves music, it’s cos he’s loved by music I believe.
And I am sure he has special skills of instruments, he would play drums or piano.

  2. Thanks Rumi… I like that you make me notice that Derry had some technical problems with his keyboard. ZAC… I just can’t be bored looking at him (even if he would have picked his nose). People who had the chance of meeting him once in a lifetime are so lucky to me.

  3. I never get tired of listening to his bass, I long for him playing bass…he’s part of bass and bass is part of him, the sound he play we can hear is surely part of him, very real him.
It’s a shame EMF they were treated really unfairly as idols, each member has much ability, as they were colled brother of Jesus Jones though which the song of Jesus Jones comes up, and for EMF Unbelievable or some of songs still remain, so many musicians cover their songs. They left the trail in the history of UK songs, and as I wrote here before their demo-tape Zac’s bass were great.
It is really pity that most of fans don’t pay attention to his musicc carrer, saying they don’t know musical side. That means they just love him cos he’s good looking.
WE MUST ADMIT AND ACCEPT he’s musician, has great ability of bass (and acoustic),
I suppose he won’t want us to see him just an idol, as he often said he thinks he’s not good looking himself, though I don’t think so, I crashed his bass without knowing it was Zac, and then I found it was Zac, so that I never think of him as idol, he’s just great bassist.
I really need his work with fans, his trace we can see (listen), as his photos we can see as well.
I really want the fans to try to forcus / spot his music carrer, it’s easy to find how great he is.

    1. Rumi , you are talking out of my soul. I have always felt like a little stupid illiterate, because I have so little knowledge of music. I have decided to learn to play bass. I ‘m curious how it will affect my life. I hope I find about playing more access to his bass player soul and general to music.

      1. I just murmur aloud myself, and wanted to talk about his work, as I’m a bass lover and he’s my favourite one. And I’ve been thinking that if he wouldn’t be famous then you, and me, I mean fans, never knew him, and we didn’t meet here then. And as you told you were not at their show, I guess I’m older than you and I’ve been to their show several times, I wanted to share the time I had with you, fans. So I’ve been thinking how to share, trying such like whole of Reading 92 video into digital, or another VHS I have, then you can feel how it is or how he is, I mean, the way he plays bass, bla bla bla…. anyway I just thought, wished the fans get more focus at his work….. following bass could be best way, so that I posted this vid via AnneMarie.
Anyway I did never mean to make you felt stupid. I am sorry.

    2. Oh no, Rumi 😀 You did not make me feel stupid. You really missunderstood. It is definitely not your fault that I am a musical illiterate. When I was a child I always wanted to play an instrument but hat not the permisson. In my family art was a kind of useless stuff. And my teacher at school – I just can remember that we always had to stand in front of the class and singing songs – although I have no singing voice. But we had not the possibility to hold any instrument in our hands. It is a bit better nowadays. In my son’s school they have several instruments in the music rooms. I find it a pretty thing. And what you tell about the adoration of fans that there are a lot which were only interested in the good looking boy(s) – it is sadly true, but maybe one thing which is not really to avoid. But I can understand the frustrration of the band playing in front of a bunch of teenagers which only want to pull them off their shirts, but are not interested in the music they played.

      1. Yet I made you at least confused, Anja.
Sorry to know about your childhood, you loved to play insturuments, you couldn’t. And about “art” you’re talented in your family, though. I envy you so much. It seems we were grown very opposite way, I used to play electric organs since I was a kid, but failed cos I was lazy (I’m still), and I hated sing a song in front of people. The music class was similar to me, and in these days they have instruments play in music class in my son’s school. Well, I can’t read any scores, just make or play only in ears. So I think you can do it, more than me, for the starter reading scores is must.
I understand teenagers scream at idols, that’s very natural way don’t you agree. Look at the Beatles, they were idols at the start after all. Even if you couldn’t allow their show, the mind must had been the same to teenagers in front lines of their show. But at my age, or around my age, it’s creepy 😀 And we’re all aduuts, we all still love him, love EMF sounds, so that we listen to their music, forcus to his bass I believe.

  4. Thank for this video, Rumi and AnneMarie 🙂 Unbelievable, that there are people standing in the audience and do not move – TO THIS MUSIC! And it’s just a pity that the camera shows just a few of Zac. That Derry had some problems with his keyboard I did not realize. I was just wondering why he is not playing. I have to watch it once more in the evening.

    1. They were performed at a lot of famous festivals in Europe and all of the festival were like this! The last time I saw was called the Heineken Festival which took place in the middle of somewhere in Britain, and the Glastonbury 95. Glastonbury was as great as the Reading. And Zac is always out of sight from the camera even it’s studio, like TOTP, or PV, in this Reading we can watch him play bass more than others.

Well. as I wrote above, I have whole the Reading 92 on VHS and will turn into digital, I’ll send them to AnneMarie so that you’ll be able to see them 🙂

  5. It should be funny to have the EMF songs with only bass and drum. It will be easier to focus on his work. But his work is not just playing bass… I think he had also created melody and lyrics with band members (in EMF and Also Carrie). I would like to know which EMF’s song he was more implicated as a song writter.

I didn’t have the chance to watch him perform live and appreciate how good he was as a bassist. Watching it on TV or Radio doesn’t replace the live performance (I mean… being there).

Anja : Have you ever go to an EMF gig?

    1. Music without drum n’ bass make no sense.
I try to figure out which ones he’s written, and we, I mean fans, can try to find it in so many ways.
You seem, you always claim you have never been to their shows, but I think no amount of grieving can bring it back.

So I posted (via AnneMarie) their vids, as can as I do, like this Reading Festival.
Though you still keep claim, then there’s nothing I (and AnneMarie) do for you.
You mean the Reading isn’t their shows.

  6. No, Virginie, I have never been to a gig 😦 I was too young at this time. Only 15. And as I know they also never played in my town or a town which is close to mine. And when I was older I had lost them out of my eyes because I had other things in my head. I am very sad that I never saw them life. Maybe at this time I even did not know how overwhelming it can be to visit a concert – because I had never been to one. But this feeling is unbeatable and not to copy in TV.

    1. I knew it Anja, you wrote us that somewhere in this site. Sorry for that indeed, missed chance to see them play on the stage, and the show can’t be unbeatable than TV or vids, though, think twice, there’re so many vids of their shows, we must be lucky. There’re so many bands that don’t have any shows or PV.

  7. To Rumi. What I meant was that the sound (of bass) on live performance is not the same as if I listen the same live performance via TV (or radio). But I enjoy watching it on TV even if I wasn’t there (in the audience, at the Reading Festival or other live performances).

As you Anja, I was too young (13 years old) when they came to Montreal. And I wasn’t a fan of them back then (in 1991). And they never came back. Even if they would back to Montreal… without Zac… I would not go.
