  1. Thank you so much, AnneMarie ❀ Although Christmas is actually over now I wish you all the best as well and a good getting through through the "RauhnΓ€chte". I rather could not find the English word for it (something like "rough nights"), the time between Christmas and January 6. May only the good ghosts take care of you and your dear ones πŸ™‚ Love from Anja

    1. Aw thank you Anja, and I just googled Rauhnachte, how interesting, I love these old traditions, never heard of it before, I`ll have to make sure to leave some Christmas lights on to keep bad spirits away and attract the good ones, sounds a bit like Halloween,
I`ve heard of Krampus before though, which sounds very scary.:)
I`ve also heard of Allerheiligen just after Halloween, when people remember their loved ones who have left this world, which is rather a lovely thing to do,
Blessings and light to you to keep safe during Rauhnachte Anja ❀

  2. Well, they say, it actually comes from the Celts πŸ˜€ It is especially common in the South of Germany and the Alps although people there are very catholic. All those pagan rules are not really official, but people do it nevertheless. I usually fumigate my flat with herbs to let vanish the bad vibrations of the past. πŸ™‚

  3. I think its good those ancient traditions haven’t died out, those old rituals seem more in touch with nature, something I think the modern world has lost touch of 😦 where I live, as soon as 26th December came, people were out shopping for sales, It would be nice if the 12 days of Christmas or the even older traditions were more honored instead of buying more things, but that’s how the world is now I suppose 😦 I`ve been leaving some fairy lights on during Rauhnachte though πŸ™‚

  4. Oh I know it as well, AnneMarie. Here in Germany the shops were open at two advent sundays 😦 This even had not been possible in GDR and this was not a religious country. I don’t know what people have to buy so much. I always start thinking about what to present my family in summer and buy the presents in autumn. So I have a quite calm Christmas time πŸ™‚ Yes, and that we lost the touch with nature is true. But I think already some hundred years ago, not just yesterday. I always try to restore this touch, being in the woods for a long time. Sometimes I have this feeling to get in contact. But it is hard, there are so many lost abilities.
